Windows 10 21H1 - Fin du support décembre 2022

end of support on December 13, 2022

Microsoft has posted its documentation to remind Windows 10 users that the Windows 10 21H1 version will no longer be supported from December 13, 2022, less than 3 months from now.

Windows 10 21H1, also known as Windows 10 May 2021 Update, is end of life! Starting December 13, 2022, it will no longer receive security updates and become vulnerable to attacks, like other versions of Windows 10 that are no longer supported by Microsoft. In in the documentationthe Redmond firm specifies: “Customers contacting Microsoft Support after this date will be prompted to update their device to the latest version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 to remain supported.“.

As you will have understood, to continue to benefit from security updates, companies can migrate to the latest version of Windows 10, for now, where to turn to Microsoft’s new operating system: Windows 11, of course. The latest version of Windows 10 is version “Windows 10 21H2” and it is supported by Microsoft until June 11, 2024 (even later, depending on the version).

Here is the list of Windows 10 21H1 editions that will no longer be supported in less than 3 months:

  • Windows 10 Enterprise, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Education, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Home, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Pro, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Pro Education, version 21H1
  • Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, version 21H1

Although Microsoft has not yet communicated on this subject, chances are that the American company will start forcing upgrades to the latest version of Windows 10 on consumer devices or unmanaged enterprise devices. The goal is to reduce the number of devices that use Windows 10 21H1 after December 13, 2022. In itself, for consumer devices, this is not a bad idea, since many people are unaware of the existence of several versions of Windows 10 and this notion of “end of support” on certain versions.
