GTA 6 data leak!

Thunderbolt in the world of video games: a pirate has seized the source code and gameplay videos of Grand Theft Auto 6, a game expected for several years and powered by Rockstar Game. What happened ?

So Grand Theft Auto 5 said GTA 5 was released in 2013, fans of this game have been waiting for the 6th installment for several years. It’s in the works, and we don’t know when it will be released. Nevertheless, the hacking that has just taken place could well disrupt the plans of the Rockstar Game studio.

It turns out that a hacker was able to access Rockstar Game’s Slack server and Confluence wiki, which allowed him to recover confidential information! On GTAForums, this pirate nicknamed “teapotuberhacker” shared a link that provides access to a RAR archive that contains 90 videos corresponding to GTA 6.

GTA 6 Videos

That’s not all since the hacker claims to have stolen “source code and resources for GTA 5 and 6, as well as the test version of GTA 6“but at the moment he has not disseminated this information. His tactics are clear: he will try to obtain money from Rockstar Games. In the meantime, he claims that he can sell the elements related to GTA 5 for more than $10,000, while he’s saving GTA 6-related stuff for his negotiations with Rockstar Games, at least for now.

For the moment, the Rockstar Games studio has not spoken… We can imagine that this event was probably unexpected. However, the publisher seems to be hunting leaked videos on YouTube, but the damage is done: they will circulate despite everything. Although there is no official confirmation, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has confirmed the existence of the data leak after speaking to sources at Rockstar.

Who is behind this attack?

One wonders who is behind the attack and how the initial access took place… According to the information provided by the hacker himself, he is also believed to be behind the Uber hack. It is true that these attacks are similar in that there is a compromise of a Slack access in both cases. As a reminder, the cybercriminal behind the attack on Uber is only 18 years old.
