Windows 10 September 2022 Update: KB5017308 and KB5017315

Microsoft has posted these new updates for the start of the 2022 school year, intended for Windows 10, with the aim of correcting bugs and security vulnerabilities on the versions still covered by support. Updates KB5017308 and KB5017315 are available for Windows 10!

The KB5017308 update contains various fixes to improve system security. Microsoft did not provide many details in the description of this update. Nevertheless, if we refer to the update “Preview” previously published (KB5017308), we learn that Microsoft fixed 22 bugs and added 2 new features. For example, the Redmond firm fixed a bug in Microsoft Edge that tended to crash when using IE mode, another bug that affected BitLocker performance, as well as a bug that caused a 0x1E error when computer is shut down or restarted.

As for the new features:

  • Add a remote language on Windows 10, or a feature related to languages
  • Improve Microsoft Defender to be more effective against ransomware and advanced attacks

Do not be surprised by the list above: this update is not available for Windows 10 version 2004 nor for Windows 10 version 1909 since support ended several months ago.
